I have wifi and an iPod touch. I want to download a song that's not on iTunes and I don't want to catch a virus on my computer by downloading it there. Some things that's free too
I'm pretty sure there has to be a middleman- aka you need to download to your computer first. Most music uploaded to websites will be uploaded to those websites that are specifically to upload and download files (a file hosting site like Rapidshare or Megaupload). These are usually safe- Imp4 song download have never gotten a virus from them. In fact I use exterior sources (aka not iTunes) only. Look for forums or blogs that focus on music or music and video downloads for the most trustworthy links.
You can just directly download the song to your computer and then import to iTunes. If you don't want to use ITunes to put the song on your IPod, I recommend a program called CopyTrans. You can download the suite for free but you only need to install the CopyTrans Mamp4 song downloadnager program. You do need to have the IPod Touch firmware installed so CopyTrans will recognize your IPod- easy solve is to just have a copy of ITunes on your computer.
On the virus thing- you don't want to catch a virus on your computer, but you're not worried about the IPod? The sources would be the same.
