I've been a Palm Desktop/Palm OS user for many years and will be switching to a Windows Mobile OS smartphone soon. I don't want to use Outlook. What other desktop software synchs with the Windows Mobile OS built-in calendar and desktop management softwaretasks applications?

There's some mobile apps you can use for syncing and backup. Try mTools,desktop management software http://mtools.guiang.net
Get a gmail account. Move your stuff off your desktop and out to Google. No synching needed. Also, check out what's in the tubes:
